MikeK Posted September 8, 2011 #1 Posted September 8, 2011 Hi, The attached patch came with a couple of nice sub related items but there was also some scout material in with the lot. I had assumed the dragon patch was scout related until I recently saw something similar described as some sort of naval shore leave patch. Would anyone be able to ID the patch and put a timeperiod on it? If it helps, there is no UV reaction. Thanks & Regards Mike PS: The Combat Patrol Badge is a nice WW2 vintage AMICO example and the Enlisted Submarine Warfare patch has been uniform removed (again, UV no glow)
Teamski Posted September 8, 2011 #3 Posted September 8, 2011 The badge is very nice!! The dragon is a cuff patch worn inside the cuffs of the Cracker Jack uniform. They were worn all along, so I can't date it myself. -Ski
Sabrejet Posted September 8, 2011 #4 Posted September 8, 2011 The dragon patch would be sewn behind the cuff of the dress blues then turned back and displayed during runs ashore...the so-called "Liberty cuffs"...usually matched pairs. Often acquired on cruises to the far east.
MikeK Posted September 8, 2011 Author #5 Posted September 8, 2011 Many thanks Gents. I'd better move the patch out of the "scout box". Regards Mike
