    Norman D. Landing

Also note the Boys .55 anti-tank rifle fitted to the side, and the vertical fore grip on the M1928 Thompson the man in the middle is carrying. Why not check if the local shelters might have a new companion for you? There are always homeless dogs waiting for a good home 😊

    Norman D. Landing

Matching the post about General LeClerc’s return to France, here is my visit to the spot where MacArthur splashed ashore at Leyte in the Philippines on October 20, 1944. We visited Leyte just a few weeks from the 50th anniversary of that invasion. The spot where MacArthur splashed ashore on A-Day has been commemorated by this somewhat tacky statue. The beach area here is very well maintained, but there is little else to give a sense of history to the place. mikie
  5. And here is an Eisenhower Jacket for the unit with the new DI.
  6. Yes that's what it is, German made, though it will be an early made one from the very early 50s, probably an unauthorized locally approved type one sees then. This unit was a California Reserve unit active for the Korean War, and sent to Germany, it evidently gets an officially approved DI at some point in its service in Germany. See

    BMTC

The BMTC organization was responsible for the procurement of the Organized Defense Volunteers pins after all unit were disband of July 4, 1945. Unknown where they actually secured their well made Shoulder Insignia from might have been the Pasquale Uniform Company in San Francisco.

    82nd Division tailor made

I'm stumped here on this one. French made WWI or WWII, Pre-WWII tailormade CONUS, Post WWII Japanese Occupation made or is it something else?
  10. I also just picked up a Bell Trading Company Senior Parachutist Badge for $27.00.

    Vet bringback Remington 1916 Bayonet

Hammer KaBar, I changed my mind. After studying your bayonet more closely and comparing with several P07 cross guards, I think I'm right to conclude that the original P13 cross guard had the ring cut off and another one welded on. The cross guard has too sharp an angle between the ring and the guard when compared to an original P07 cross guard. That's my final answer. Marv
  12. Thank you for the very useful information! It's interesting that there is a WO or FO in the department that investigates photos. Also, I don't know for sure, but the captain in the picture seemed to wear a rank pin on his left collar, too.

You forgot the + after your $1800 - $2000 that was stated. We need to see pics of the inside and around the rear sight, stock markings and more, does it have a dogleg hammer?? . 18 to 20 is a good starting point until more is known. I agree with you quality original carbines are going for more.

Forum Members Help Complete my USMC KaBar collection

My 7th generation USMC KA-BAR has a World War II sheath with a button type snap that was dyed black and you can see where the dye actually soaked down into the top portion of where the blade goes.
  15. Mikedon and Thorin6 me get a WW2 made early and a late USMC KA-BARs to join my early and late WW2 Camillus USMC knives. Mikedon also helped me get correct World War II sheaths to put my two Camillus USMC knives into. Here are some pictures of my now complete WW2 issued Marine Corps Kabars.

    Muskrat caps

Chris, big Mahalos for sharing the awesome period photos of 27th IR troops wearing all different types of muskrat caps in theatre. I see that the skull portion of your cap is of O.D. woolen material. Govt issue? Dirk, thanks for sharing the damning photographic evidence. I'm particularly floored by your cabinet photo from Seoul. I can't imagine Inchon was a Port that was frequented very often by the Asiatic Fleet. Seeing is believing as they say. Now the bigger question is which one should I let go and let some else enjoy? Aloha, John

    PBR RivDiv 593 Beret

Great beret, I have some friends who were TF-116 and always like to see that stuff and grab it when I can.

Nobody knows if that gun is in 100% original condition because he hasn’t posted more pictures to verify if it is. We know at least one modification has been made with the disk on the underside of the pistol grip. I stand by $1800-2000 as a Starting Point. It could be worth a lot more. I hope it is.
  19. I am not near any of my ASMIC Catalogs but it looks a lot like the 322nd Signal Battalion if that helps

One of the Earliest Inland M1 Carbines Made

As a long time carbine lover, I can't thank you enough for sharing your photos with us. That's an amazing piece of history that I would never have been able to see otherwise. Thanks for posting.
