There is a unit history bibliography. It was written by James Controvich. It covers army unit histories from WWI to Present. You can find on Amazon.com I have a copy and it is the Bible of army units.

I have volume II only as I don't need anything pre-WW1, and I can say that it's a great book...well worth the (excessive) cost...

I also have only Vol. II as my interest is WWII. It is WELL Worth the cost and the other books do not have the same amount of info.
