Christopher Posted September 20, 2011 #11 Posted September 20, 2011 Dark Adaption Goggles Type A-1 I believe they are goggles used by gunners to see the tracer rounds.
trstevens Posted September 21, 2011 #13 Posted September 21, 2011 Some people have all the luck
Survival Posted September 22, 2011 #15 Posted September 22, 2011 They would probably have the red lenses then. They were worn by flight crew and others who were preparing to fly or be lookouts at night. It takes a little while for your eyes to adapt when you go from a lighted area to outdoors at night. The identical goggles with green lenses would have been worn for protection from the sun. I guess if you were a gunner shooting tracers at night they might be useful. Don't know if paratroopers would have worn the red lense goggles much.
SlaterDoc Posted September 22, 2011 #16 Posted September 22, 2011 Are you sure he said "get THAT crap outta here"? Or could it have been "get THE crap outta here"? Are you sure there is not a John Doe warrant out on your butt? :w00t:
MattStone Posted September 29, 2011 Author #17 Posted September 29, 2011 Are you sure he said "get THAT crap outta here"? Or could it have been "get THE crap outta here"? Are you sure there is not a John Doe warrant out on your butt? :w00t: haha yes, he didn't want this stuff. He knew it was going to a better home and not getting wrecked sitting in a old building with water in it.
