Ranger scrolls original WWII or reproductions ?
Fusilier replied to Fusilier's topic in ARMY AND USAAF
Thanks for the info and the picture of your gorgeous collection ! Yes the only one close to looking like any of your patches in my collection is my 5th Battalion but it's on felt so it won't be right. Wish I'd joined the forum earlier, as I could have saved myself some money lol. 'Knowledge is everything' as they say. Thanks again, Barry - Today

Nobody has the book at home?

It’s a good thing I love my granddogs. We will have them again all next week. My dear daughter and new hubby are leaving for yet another honeymoon trip. The fourth one this year. This time for a week on Bali. They just got back from the Bahamas two weeks ago. Ah, to be young with a well paying job… mikie

Sad to hear rain spoiled your original plans. Glad to see that you made the best of things anyway. That looks like a great display of bikes in a very interesting museum. mikie

General Apathy replied to Chariots of Fire's topic in MODELING
. . Hi Charlie. here's the closed cab version of your Diamond T build. I forgot to say about that Chevrolet pumper that it appears it has only done 337 miles in eighty years. Thanks Kat, yes Charlie's scratch builds are fantastic and true to life, only pleased that I had some life size examples to share with him. regards lewis. ... -

I forgot to mention, there is a “P”on the barrel and a “U” on the barrel bands. -
Hello Everyone, It's been a minute since I've posted, got caught up in some personal stuff. For any hardcore medical reenactors, I'm asking for a bit of advice on where to find things. My current impression for my 9th ID ETO Medic is an NCO Combat medic, and my Current kit is mostly Red Cross/Post war Items, not too accurate, But works for now. I'm hoping to soon have good displays for upcoming events. I just wanted to know the best place to locate and get accurate items. (Pictured below, pictures are from the WW2 US medical research website) (Also yes gear fanatic, I'm going to save this until after i complete my kit.)

Hey Mike, Welcome aboard. I have a lot of past family roots in Canada. My grandfather served in the 16th Canadian Scottish on the front lines in WWI. You'll like this forum, tons of great people and information. Ken

To possibly not have to pay. Could I ask for only specific things to minimize the amount of pages and thus the potential bill? You’re probably right, I am over thinking this. I just want to know when he was in Country what unit. That’s it. I doubt that’s how it works (specifying what I am looking for) but it’s worth a shot if ya’ll don’t think it’s out of line -
Hey there, my name is Mike. I started collecting the militaria hobby during 2019, after a visiting, "The Military Museums" in Calgary, Canada (very original name, I know) My primary collecting interest is headgear from WWII, yet I am also interested in modern militaria. I have always been interested in the study of history since the days of my childhood - spent far too much time in the school library. I participate in a WWII militaria forums, yet heard good things about this forums. With regards to US militaria - the original Call of Duty 4 remains a creative inspiration, and I liked the uniforms worn by the USMC Force Recon. I like to collect items with a story, so any saltiness, combat wear, or provenance is greatly appreciated. I am currently seeking a GWOT CVC helmet worn by US tank crew members. Please let me know if you may have one to offer. Thanks for reading, and best wishes.

BG Harold W. Ohlke, USAF, WWII Pilot - in need of some research help

Wow, that's great. Not sure what else I would need or want really other than operational logs of the missions he flew for his Air Medal. Will need to consider newspaper.com as a research option. You really wish documents, photo album, and logbooks were present. Thank you, Jeff -
I ended up getting them for less then $20 with auction fee's. I am happy with that price since you can barely buy any WWII item for that normally around here.

Stumbled upon a gal on marketplace selling what I initially thought was a great condition ILBE main pack. After doing the deal, I realized it’s actually a complete ILBE Recon Main Pack, which is WAY more rare. And it’s in unissued condition with radio pouch and 2x sustainment pouches. I’m not a USMC collector nor am I a fan of MARPAT so I usually just flip the standard ILBEs I come across to finance my milsurp/gun projects but I’m wondering if it would be worth it to try to source a Recon Assault Pack and sell it as a set or just list the main pack by itself since the assault packs are 200 on the cheap end. What says you?

Seller sent me this, the knife sets fully in the sheath. Looks 14” total. we’ll see what I find Friday.

1943 5-gal water can found in Patton's play ground
sigo replied to P-59A's topic in BASE/BIVOUAC/CAMP/DEPOT ITEMS
Found recently? Makes me wonder what other things are out there on the ground waiting for 83 years to be found. -
Stunning work on your model!! And I love the added pictures from Ken. ...Kat

Thank you so much for the reference! asked about overall length.
-
See the forum link below. The sheath looks like one I acquired several years ago. It's not an M6 sheath, but a similar looking one made for a USMC fighting knife. As you can see from your photo, it's not as long as an M6, that's why the M3 knife doesn't seat properly in it.

Greetings all, I don't know how this stuff finds me, but I lucked into no less than FOUR DOZEN early slings. From my limited knowledge I see Civil War, M1866 Trapdoor, M1868/69/70 Trapdoor, M1873 Trapdoor and Krag slings in the mix. Does anyone know some resources on sling model identification? I know there are some gems in here! Just for context, the slings are stacked four deep in the crate! Pretty much all of those are M1887 slings. I appreciate any information you guys can give!
