The ship was in service from 1950 - 1983 and served as a troop transport during the Korean War, The Cuban Missle Crisis and Vietnam. The ship also transported refugees on a number of occasions. Since this was a MSTS ship they were hauling dependants too. Also the color photo at the top is obviously a color version of the postcard at the bottom with some fake clouds added.
