museums Posted April 19, 2019 #1 Posted April 19, 2019 Thought some of you would find this as cool as I do. This garrison cap, in the Fort Sam Houston Museum, once belonged to Col Clinton A. Pierce, commander of 26th Cavalry in the Philippines. For his actions in the retreat to Bataan, in January 1942, Pierce was promoted in the field by Jonathan Mayhew Wainwright to Brigadier General. According to the donor, which was Pierce’s wife, the star was hand-sewn onto this cap for Pierce by LTG Wainwright himself while they were POWs after the fall of Corregidor.
KASTAUFFER Posted April 19, 2019 #2 Posted April 19, 2019 Thats a great piece. I do know that Pierce's medals are in private hands. Kurt
