1943 dated from Frankford Arsenal Lot #1. But what is it? I have not encountered this shell before. Most likely and experimental round but I can't find anything about it.

After much searching I found a little info about this shell. Only 25 were loaded and test fired. The goal was 3200 feet per second and armor penetration of 1.5 inches. It failed so the test was abandoned. My shell was never loaded so it must have been a left over from the test.
