MAJAVI Posted March 19, 2018 Share #1 Posted March 19, 2018 Hey guys, I bought this liner a while ago and I wanted to know what your thoughts on it are. It has 444th air police written on the front and Hartman written on the back with chalk I assume. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
MAJAVI Posted May 8, 2018 Author Share #2 Posted May 8, 2018 Bringing this one back up as Im curious to what this could be. Is the 444th AP even a real unit? Perhaps this was done for someones kid? -Javier
phantomfixer Posted May 8, 2018 Share #3 Posted May 8, 2018 I don't think it is a child marked or otherwise made up helmet...Air Police is a pretty specific term used for a brief time in Air Force history...1947-1966 or there abouts... Would be interesting if the unit history folks would chime in on the 444th AP...

GITom1944 Posted May 9, 2018 Share #5 Posted May 9, 2018 Don't know if this helps... I looked up 444th Air Police in Newspapers.com & came upon a 1946 article about the 444th Bomb Group at Davis-Monthan being considered for a proposed United Nations "police force." Maybe the original wearer was referring to this in a tongue-in-cheek way? Tom

MAJAVI Posted May 9, 2018 Author Share #7 Posted May 9, 2018 Thats very interesting Tom. Thank you for sharing that. It would be very cool if my liner was actually a part of that unit.
