I saw a 25 pound practice bomb at a local sale. I'm reluctant to buy it. As you all know, it's called a "ballistic dummy unit" or BDU (target smoke bomb). The seller said this one is disarmed. It's hollow and seems to be empty.

Question: Is it legal to own these?

Thanks

A pic would help. What color is it? What is stenciled on it?

It is an inert tin can with fins.

Does it look like this one? This is the one I own and its really nothing more then an oversized paperweight. But I honestly have a thing for ordnance of any kind.

This is it. Thanks for the replies.

The owner says it was found on his property years ago. This property isn't near a military base. He has no idea how it got there.

No markings that I can see. Just blue color.

So, these are legal to own/buy?

Totally inert, as others posted you are good to go with it. They look good hanging in the war room.
