notinfringed Posted January 20, 2015 Author Share #26 Posted January 20, 2015 I showed these pictures to my uncle. He is somewhat of a vehicle expert. The vehicle in post #17 is what they called a "straddle Carrier". Here is a link to a photo he found online: http://dawson-station.blogspot.com/2010/05/vehicles.html From what I found online, they were the predecessor to the modern conex handlers used at shipyards. It would seem that several forklift manufacturers made a vehicle of this design, including Clark and Hyster.
notinfringed Posted January 21, 2015 Author Share #27 Posted January 21, 2015 This next album belonged to another unknown. The pictures in it are from all over the state. He appears to have been attached to a medical unit. First up, some jeep shots:

notinfringed Posted January 21, 2015 Author Share #33 Posted January 21, 2015 These next three shots are from a man stationed on Attu in 1945. He was a really good photographer, and seemed to take mostly scenery shots. I had to crop these down and shrink them quite a bit to get them to fit. Hopefully the detail will show. The first two are of a Jeep with a hard top, and marked "chaplain" under the windshield. I'm not sure if it is the same jeep in the two pictures:
notinfringed Posted January 21, 2015 Author Share #34 Posted January 21, 2015 Last one from that album. This is like one of those where's waldo things. Can you spot the jeep?:
notinfringed Posted January 21, 2015 Author Share #35 Posted January 21, 2015 This next album is from a man stationed on one of the Aleutian Islands with the Corps of Engineers. First up, a Bucyrus Erie shovel at work. Bucyrus started making mining equipment in 1880, and was still going strong until they were purchased by Caterpillar in 2011. notinfringed Posted January 21, 2015 Author Share #43 Posted January 21, 2015 An once again, I think I saved the best for last. I'm not 100 percent sure on this one as it seems to be extremely rare. I believe it is a GMC AFKX shop van. If anyone has any more info on it, I would be glad to hear it. I absolutely love this vehicle: That's it for tonight.
