Interesting Backing on WWII AAC Patch

Recently picked this up because the back of the patch looked unique. Almost like an HBT material. Clearly woven onto material as part of the patch and not cut off of a uniform.

Anyone see another patch like this before?

German-made patches often have a cotton fabric backing...though perhaps tending towards a slightly lighter shade of khaki?
