BOLO Posted August 13, 2011 Share #2 Posted August 13, 2011 I think $100 is a fair price, the USMC M1955 vest is harder to find than the M69 flak vest and it looks like it's in very good cond. thats a 2nd pattern M55 vest it has DORON plates [not steel] Doron Plate is a strong fiberglass-based laminate http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doron_Plate The doron plate could not stop direct fire from bullets but was effective at stopping relatively slow moving flak and shrapnel. The plates were named after General G.F. Doriot who was chief of the Research and Development Branch, Office of The Quartermaster General of the Army during World War II. The doron plates were used in the Korean War in the M-1951 and T-52-2 vests and the Vietnam War in the M-1955 and M69 vests. Stronger and lighter materials such as Kevlar-based body armor eventually superseded the doron plate.

Jason G Posted August 13, 2011 Share #4 Posted August 13, 2011 I think 100.00 for one in this good a condition is MORE than fair. I've been getting about that on ebay for ones in worse shape.
