BAR Belt modified

Hi all,

I find this Browning Automatic Rifle Belt, 4-1918, 5-1918 & 7-1918 dated.

It seems that it has been modified (with a colt .45 pouch and a US stamp on it)

Is it credible if I use it on a WWII USMC display ?

Best regards,

There was a belt issued like this one for the assitant BAR gunner in WW! if I recall correctly.

The US marking looks suspect?added in my opinion. The font isnt correct and the WW1 pouches were notmarked.

Looks like a WWI BAR gunners belt that they took the cup off and put an extra mag pocket on. I have seen that before.

Didn't the assistant gunners belt have 4 BAR mag pockets and 4 rifle clip pockets?

The stencil is def not original to this belt. It looks like one i have seen on 1950's m45 suspenders. def not WWI or WWII

Although the marines used army equipment, their ammo belts tended not to be marked "US".

Those were army issue. Coming across a BAR belt marked "USMC"

is so uncommon, I have not seen one...
