Ronnie Posted August 31, 2023 #1 Posted August 31, 2023 Anybody got an idea of what this is for? Could it be for those large size trainers like the BAR or the 1919? Thanks. Ronnie
Mr Ed Posted September 1, 2023 #2 Posted September 1, 2023 From your pictures, looks like a plastic training round for the M2 .50 Cal Machine Gun. Fired many back in the late 1980's. It required the M2 to have some different feeding components for operation. It may have been a cost savings development instead of using standard rounds. Not sure if they still use the rounds or when & if they discontinued the use. Ed
Linedoggie Posted September 1, 2023 #4 Posted September 1, 2023 Even though plastic it is lethal at short ranges
Ronnie Posted September 1, 2023 Author #5 Posted September 1, 2023 So is this still a live round I guess? And thank you all for this info. Ronnie
917601 Posted September 1, 2023 #6 Posted September 1, 2023 Headstamp shows German made , DAG, 1985. Live round judging by the primer.
Ronnie Posted September 1, 2023 Author #7 Posted September 1, 2023 Wow.....well very cool I guess. Thank all of you for your information and help. Much appreciated. Ronnie
nebelwerfer Posted March 24, 2024 #8 Posted March 24, 2024 We fired 7,62mm plastic rounds like this with the G3 in the Germam Army, when I was a Soldier. They could be used at the small base training side, because the security area was much smaller then with real live ammo. Live Ammo was only allowed at the shooting range or on the big training area ranges.
whiskydown Posted October 15, 2024 #9 Posted October 15, 2024 I just paid about $20 for one of these for my 50 BMG cartridge collection.
