Cobra 6 Actual Posted October 22, 2021 #151 Posted October 22, 2021 Now this is a BIG badge: Probably made for a going away plaque for someone stationed at Camp Butler, Okinawa.
Cobra 6 Actual Posted October 23, 2021 #152 Posted October 23, 2021 Here’s a pretty standard USAF Security Police badge with a South Korean Air Force one next to it: It’s pretty clear that the USAF design elements have influenced the South Korean version.

Los Alamitos CA. From what I read they trained pilots there staring in 1942. The pin catch is WWII period (my opinion). The badge measures 2 inches tall and 1 3/4 inches wide. Made by L.A. Stamp & Stationary Company. One of my new favorites. Los Alamitos Naval Air Station from 1942 - 1973 (now JFTB Los Alamitos) and assigned to Cal Guard. I live about 2 blocks from it...
Cobra 6 Actual Posted October 23, 2021 #154 Posted October 23, 2021 Cool old picture, Bluehawk! Here’s a screw-back hat badge that almost looks like a belt buckle
Cobra 6 Actual Posted October 24, 2021 #155 Posted October 24, 2021 This has the look of a badge made in one of the base’s shops:
Cobra 6 Actual Posted October 25, 2021 #158 Posted October 25, 2021 Thanks, jmd62, this set is from the same agency that produced the obsolete badge sets in Posts # 142 and # 143.
Cobra 6 Actual Posted October 26, 2021 #159 Posted October 26, 2021 Issue USAF Fire badge for a Chief Officer, still on the card
Cobra 6 Actual Posted October 27, 2021 #160 Posted October 27, 2021 Naval Aviation Auxiliary Station, Corpus Christi
Cobra 6 Actual Posted October 28, 2021 #161 Posted October 28, 2021 Camp Taylor, formerly a base in Kentucky:
Cobra 6 Actual Posted October 29, 2021 #162 Posted October 29, 2021 Hamilton Field was an AAF and USAF airfield in Marin County, CA. This badge is circa WWII:
Cobra 6 Actual Posted October 30, 2021 #163 Posted October 30, 2021 Defense General Supply Center, Richmond, VA:
Cobra 6 Actual Posted October 31, 2021 #164 Posted October 31, 2021 This is one of these “I’ve got the badge somewhere” things: Don’t know why I have the book stored in with the badges, while the badge has apparently gone ‘walkabout’.
mds308 Posted October 31, 2021 Author #165 Posted October 31, 2021 Whoa. Slow down there cobra. I can't keep up. Here's a WWII period Fire Captain War Department Corps Of Engineers. Looks well used.
Cobra 6 Actual Posted November 1, 2021 #166 Posted November 1, 2021 Nice one, mds308. An anniversary badge to start the day:
Cobra 6 Actual Posted November 2, 2021 #167 Posted November 2, 2021 And in related badge news it seems that now challenge coins are being made in badge bottle opener shapes: I’ve now seen such coins for Army CID, Marine CID, NCIS, and OSI. Haven’t seen CGIS yet, but I’m sure one is out there!
Cobra 6 Actual Posted November 4, 2021 #170 Posted November 4, 2021 Thanks, jmd62. Here’s one from Belle Mead, NJ:
Cobra 6 Actual Posted November 4, 2021 #172 Posted November 4, 2021 That is a WWII badge, jmd62. That depot opened in 1942 and at one point even had POWs working there.

Cobra 6 Actual Posted November 5, 2021 #174 Posted November 5, 2021 This is interesting: the control number at the bottom of the badge almost appears to be for an MOS, yet “5811” is the main basic Marine military policeman MOS: Perhaps it’s not an MOS, but the last four of a service number or SSN.
