Desert Storm Helmet Bring-Back

I’m new to the forum and saw there is a section for bring-back items. I picked up this helmet in a bunker several miles south of Al Salman, Iraq. Not sure if the helmet was Iraqi Guard or not, but the bunker was near an artillery battery, with several shot-up T-62’s and other destroyed vehicles near-by. I also picked up a gas mask, several abandoned uniforms, and expended artillery shell casings.

Cool helmet . Would love to see the other stuff you brought back

Here are a few of the other items I brought back. The uniforms were filthy when they came out of the bunker in ‘91, so they got washed when I got home. The mask and vest still have desert dirt on them. What irritated me at the time, was Jordon reported that they had not been providing ammo to Iraq. The ammo box said otherwise.

Jordanian aid to Iraq during the Gulf War.

I went into western Kuwait (with the Egyptian forces) during the ground war. In one bunker we came across several ammo crates clearly marked "Amman, Jordan" in English. I took a couple photos, which I'll try to dig out sometime.

Great helmet in great condition, true you do not find many with the nets. I am thinking of looking for one for the collection.

I guess it’s kind of funny when you think about it...what in the hell were they going to put in the camo netting? More sand maybe?

sometimes they would use the netting over burlap or cut strips to camo the helmet like a helmet scrim
