TheMariner Posted December 23, 2018 Share #1 Posted December 23, 2018 I acquired these wings a week or so ago and I intend to sell them but I am a little on the fence about them so I wanted to see what others thought! Are these original period wings ? They look very nice! Just hope someone has some info on them!

TheMariner Posted December 24, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted December 24, 2018 No one has any clue on this wing ? Would really like to know about it so I can decide what to do with it!
The Rooster Posted December 24, 2018 Share #6 Posted December 24, 2018 I dont really know, Having me give advice on wngs is like the blind leading the blind! However, I did find this Image of Gaunt crew wing that looks alot like your on the front. The back doesnot match at all. Thats all I can say. http://www.ww2wings.com/wings/usaaf/usaafaircrew.shtml
TheMariner Posted December 24, 2018 Author Share #7 Posted December 24, 2018 Hmm that is strange the construction style also looks similar to a Ludlow but again the back is off! so most likely not CBI, the pattern seems to be more British made! I guess the question still is, authentic or a facsimile?
Jay V Posted December 24, 2018 Share #8 Posted December 24, 2018 Rich Was thinking British made as well ,but doesnt have the typical British pin
BBG Posted December 24, 2018 Share #9 Posted December 24, 2018 Here's a previous discussion on this wing: www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/121328-british-made-aircrew-wingor-not/
TheMariner Posted December 24, 2018 Author Share #10 Posted December 24, 2018 Thanks BBG so what we are looking at is a 50s or 60s British made private purchase possibly by Firmin and sold to US military personal or more specifically guys in the Airforce ? Or thats at least the conclusion reached on them until more evidence is produced?
pfrost Posted December 24, 2018 Share #11 Posted December 24, 2018 Yes, I think that these are probably English-made wings from the 50-60's. Really nice, no matter when they were made! I had a near identical one on a 60's dated USAF jacket a few years ago
TheMariner Posted December 24, 2018 Author Share #12 Posted December 24, 2018 I guess here is the better question are these worth $55 bucks or are they worth less or more in your opinion ? Trying to decide if I should return them or not! Thanks
pfrost Posted December 24, 2018 Share #13 Posted December 24, 2018 Worth is a relative thing, especially if you are trying to sell them to someone else. I'd say that about 50$ is little over retail price for these, but you never ever know.
