firefighter Posted October 19, 2017 Share #1 Posted October 19, 2017 This looks like a pre-war collar insignia, open C catch. I'm thinking it could be for WEAPONS COMPANY? Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
KurtA Posted October 19, 2017 Share #2 Posted October 19, 2017 Crossed muskets became the Infantry Branch Insignia in 1924, so these date prior to that. I do not think they are US Army. I'd guess some type of college (but the # 39 seems too high for how many units a college would have) or more likely a state organization.
firefighter Posted October 19, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted October 19, 2017 Thank you Kurt. Funny I was thinking college but the "39" threw me off.
Allan H. Posted October 21, 2017 Share #4 Posted October 21, 2017 I would agree that the "WC" are probably letters for a college beginning with a "W." I would guess that "39" could be a class number as in Class of 1939. It might be a good way to differentiate cadets by their expected year of graduation.
