anton67 Posted May 13, 2017 #1 Posted May 13, 2017 Here are my 3 PASGT prototype helmets. I was wondering if anyone can tell me the differences? In other words which variants do I have and how they differ. I reviewed the website on this and still cannot really tell. Any help would be appreciated. FIRST UP HELMET A
anton67 Posted May 13, 2017 Author #6 Posted May 13, 2017 HELMET C I know this is a P2 Prototype as it is marked P2.
anton67 Posted May 13, 2017 Author #10 Posted May 13, 2017 Last photo Here is the website I was talking about. http://www.gostak.co.uk/composites/usa/ As you can see I placed them thickest to thinnest.
sgtdorango Posted May 13, 2017 #11 Posted May 13, 2017 Do you have Reynosas K-pot book?...it might have that info, i have it and its a great book, i will have to look through it again, havent looked through it in awhile...nice helmets by the way....mike
anton67 Posted May 14, 2017 Author #12 Posted May 14, 2017 Hi Mike. No I do not have the book. The website I cited has a lot of info but I really can't tell the differences. I can see the P2 but I cannot figure out which one is helmet A or B. Helmet A seems especially unique because it is extra thin compared to the other two.
Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted May 14, 2017 #13 Posted May 14, 2017 The sweatband on the helmet on the far left in post 10 is not original to the helmet. The ones with the Velcro attachments are meant for suspension webbing that has corresponding Velcro. Their NSN was established in 1997.
anton67 Posted May 14, 2017 Author #14 Posted May 14, 2017 Good to know. I am sure I can pick up one like the others. Any info on the pots is appreciated.
gitana Posted May 15, 2017 #15 Posted May 15, 2017 Reynosa's book is a good one if you're going to collect kevlars, and it's not expensive. However, almost all of his information for development up to about 1976 came from Development of a New Infantry Helmet, which is online. I would still get his book, because he takes it further, but this is a good source for what you have.
