Navybean Posted March 27, 2017 Share #1 Posted March 27, 2017 I just picked this item up this weekend, I believe it to be a original US Army Span-Am War era Krag 100 Round Bandoleer./Bandolier, Belt retains the original springs in the loops to retain the rounds when wearing over the shoulder. I have included pics of the bandoleer along with pics of the it with a standard Krag belt.

Navybean Posted March 28, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted March 28, 2017 Thanks Ron I was hoping there were knowledgeable members on the forum who are fimilure with this belt. It took me awhile to hunt it down on the NET. There is one on eBay but not sure the seller has much info on the belt. Thanks again

Keystone Posted March 29, 2017 Share #7 Posted March 29, 2017 Excellent item. Yes, these are fairly rare. I think they can be found in the Mills catalog, I'll check when I get a chance. Here is an illustration from General Anson Mills autobiography "My Story". available on Google books here: https://books.google.com/books?id=jRBRuZO2LjoC&pg=PA314&source=gbs_toc_r&cad=3#v=onepage&q&f=false The bandoleer is on page 320. Navybean Posted March 29, 2017 Author Share #8 Posted March 29, 2017 Thanks Tim That is about the closest to a picture of the item in use that I have found. Looks like a interesting books as well. It must have been heavy when fully loaded.
Keystone Posted March 29, 2017 Share #9 Posted March 29, 2017 I'm not sure if these were actually issued equipment. You are right, they must have been very heavy! I think these might have been marketed by the Mills company to the army but never adopted. I have seen the regular cloth bandoleers for the Krag and M1903 Springfield ammo but I don't think I've ever seen one for the Trapdoor.
