Navy Dan Posted April 19, 2015 Share #1 Posted April 19, 2015 Hello Everyone, I just picked this up and figured I would share. It is for Swift Boat Squadron 1 . It is cast aluminum and appears to have not been mounted or finished. I would appreciate your opinions. Thanks Dan

Steve Brannan Posted April 22, 2015 Share #5 Posted April 22, 2015 Nice one. That was my Squadron in Vietnam. This is early probably 1966. Was changed to Coastal Squadron One about 67-68.
Steve Brannan Posted April 27, 2015 Share #6 Posted April 27, 2015 Here's the same plaque, painted and mounded on wood, that I found on eBay about 10 years ago.
Steve Brannan Posted April 27, 2015 Share #7 Posted April 27, 2015 And here's a history of Coastal Squadron One from a Change of Command ceremony in Cam Ranh Bay in 1969. Boat Squadron One activated in Subic Bay 1 Oct 1965, set up HQ in Saigon 22 Oct 1965. The Swift Boats were brought to Vietnam on LSTs. Re-designated Coastal Squadron One 1 Nov 1966 and moved HQ to Cam Ranh Bay in 1967. So this plaque dated from 1965-66,
Mitch Posted April 27, 2015 Share #8 Posted April 27, 2015 Nice plaques guys. Here is the later version on the podium for base turnover ceremony at Cat-lo , Dec. 1 , 1970. This one also appears to be a cast one also. Regards, Mitch
