My 1/35 SHERMAN variants

It's been about 30 years that I stopped modeling. Mighty impressed by the models I have seen her built by e.g. SGM, OLD MARINE, TOMKEY and others, I was infected again.

There are three WW II battle tanks which are my favorites: German Panzer IV, Russian T 34/85 and U.S. Sherman. One of the last tanks I built around 1980 was a Sherman variant, the M7 PRIEST. I think it would be good to start with another variation again.

Inspecting the old models I noticed that they have greatly suffered over the years. Parts and decals are missing but I figured why not posting my whole Sherman family here. Kind of my personal modeling history.

I think the first Sherman I built was that one. The Italeri Recovery vehicle variant.

AS you can see, I experimented with different shades of olive/green. This Tamiya M 4A3 was finished with Tamiya weathering powder, hmmm.

Decals were yelow over the years. The pictures don't show the exact color at all.

Biggest problem is the painting of the figures. I really have to improve that. Next project will be the crews of these tanks. Lots of work to do...

So far the history. Started again last weekend with the Calliope (Revell). A great modelkit!

Two days ago I bought the M 36 from Itaeri, partly the same model as the Calliope.

Thought I built it "on the march". The turret cover/tarp is selfmade.

Did Revell later re-issue the Sherman "Calliope" in 1/35th scale? I have an original (featured in another post) from the 70's & it had technical discrepencies, such as using an early cast hull insted of the later welded hull variety for the base of the rocket launcher variant, which were mostly M4A3s. The gun mantlet was also incorrect for the type, which is why I switched turrets with the Revell "Hedgehog" version. The lack of important details also plagued the earlier kits; things such as air filter assemblies, no grab handles or mantlet lifting rings, wacky, out-of-proportion figures, etc.

Your Shermans look very nice. I have yet to finish most of the ones I've built over the years.

Thank you both for your kind words!

@ Marksman, yes I do recall the "old" Calliope model. I attached a picture of my box, bought it some weeks ago.
