Surgical Instrument Kit, Minor Surgery

Here are some photos of a kit I bought today that on first glace seemed okay but looking closer all of the metal instruments are marked Pakistan. The pouch itself also seems to not be marked as well as others I've seen online. What was weird though is the rest of the stuff inside (surgical blades, etc) all seem to be correct and made in the US. The snaps are marked Scovill Manufacturing Company, who are also from the US. I'm not sure what exactly to think with this one.

YES...the pouches may be correct but the insturments are NOT on some kits....the insturments and case that i have were given to me by a U.S. Army medic and all U.S. marked ,but then again it was about 25 years ago too....by and large for the most part U.S. Military medical stuff is U.S. made...i have also seen the cases repo'ed in cheap far-east canvas and cheap nylon with the cheap paki-insturments as well....vince g..11B inf......

I can't see photobucket (I hate the gummint and it's computer restrictions) but as a Civil War Medical reenactor, I'm familiar with most of the 'modern' medical stuff as well. It sounds to me, (without seeing the pics) that someone had a 'partial' kit, and for display/reenacting, replaced the missing instruments with the paki stuff. They ARE making repros.

All of the instruments are fakes then but the rest of the items and the pouch seem to be authentic. It does make sense that they would have been replaced at some point because the guy I bought this from told me it came from an old lady who was "ready for the end of the world". It's strange that she found stuff that matches exactly though. I guess this was a reminder to look stuff over closely before buying!

People that stockpile aren't that concerned with authenticity, just that 'it works'. (Whatever 'it' might be LOL)
