TBMflyer Posted November 17, 2009 #1 Posted November 17, 2009 Got this one on Saturday at the Midwest Militaire in Chicago. The grouping is from PFC Kendall Meyers of Oregon, Il. The group has the following; Ike jacket with small PFC stripes, corded 8th Army/Engineer Amphibious patches, 532nd Japanese-made DUI's, those blue Korea tabs. Khaki shirt with same patches, pants, tie and Overseas hat with DI. There is also a 'theater-made' tanker looking jacket with 8th Army patch and red scarf. His dogtags and other trinkets are on the chain, 2 original photos of Meyers, a souvineer Korean War scarf with all the units insignia. All the DUI's are Japanese made N.BI.Co. The group was so complete I just couldn't pass it up. Need to do some more research on the 532nd and Meyers. Enjoy, Mark
Verdun16 Posted November 17, 2009 #5 Posted November 17, 2009 Very nice and he was from my home state also. Thanks for posting this, Bryan
Wailuna Posted November 17, 2009 #6 Posted November 17, 2009 ...Need to do some more research on the 532nd... They were some very busy engineers: 532d EBSR had credit for six Korean War campaigns and two ROK PUCs between September 15, 1950, and October 23, 1951, and elements of the regiment had credit for three DUCs, one Navy PUC, and one MUC (source: Army Unit Citation and Campaign Participation Credit Register). A very nice Korean War collection you have there.
Captainofthe7th Posted November 17, 2009 #7 Posted November 17, 2009 Wow...incredible grouping. I'd consider this quite a rare piece. Rob

1st AAA Group Posted November 17, 2009 #9 Posted November 17, 2009 That's a neat group Mark. Thanks for sharing.
TBMflyer Posted November 18, 2009 Author #10 Posted November 18, 2009 Guys, thanks for the comments. Wailuna, there are marks where a DUC should be over the pocket which you confirmed for me. I will add an appropriate period insignia. Mark
Wailuna Posted November 18, 2009 #11 Posted November 18, 2009 Take a look here to see some good info on the "Korea" loops. They were intended to be worn as a counter-faced pair with the Korean peninsula's southern tip pointing toward the soldier's shoulders (i.e., opposite to loops on your uniform). However, as we see in the linked thread, soldiers on leave in Japan wore them both ways, so your man had company.
Military Engineer Posted December 11, 2009 #12 Posted December 11, 2009 What a Great Engineer Grouping. Please let me know if you decide to part with it.
