401st Bombardment Squadron flyboys, WW2.

A nice relaxed shot of three physically quite different members of the 401st BS, Eighth Air Force, WW2. The 401st was stationed at both Kimbolton and Bassingbourn, England between '42-'45. The squadron patch clearly visible on the A2 of the central figure depicts the cartoon characters "Hairless Joe" and "Lonesome Polecat" astride a falling bomb. The officer on the left wears a cloth B-10 jacket which makes a nice comparison with the A2s it was designed to replace.

Hand-written on the reverse of the photograph is "Censored, Thomas J Capparell, F/O A.C."
