Well I guess I am joining all the other army branch collectors that are finding Navy stuff lately!!....found this little group or lot, as Im not sure it all belonged to one person....two shoulder boards that after poking around the forum seem to be Ensign boards?...also explains the small Lt. looking bar that was in the group...now the mystery board, its a single...with just a bullion shield of some sort, it looks a little older than the Ensign boards, it has a vanguard logo on the back..any clue to what era these are?.....also came with some type of Navy medal?.......thanks for any help....mike

You are correct about the boards with the line star and one stripe being Ensign boards. The other board with the shield is the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Cadet Fourth Class.

Could we see a close up of the medal?

Nick,

That last board looks like a U.S. Coast Guard OCS candidate should board - akin to the present U.S. Navy OCS shoulder board. For a while U.S. Coast Guard Academy Cadet 4th/c boards looked like U.S. Navy Academy/ROTC boards (smaller in size than commissioned officer boards), with a metal shield device - I am unsure as to what they look like presently. I have not seen any with a woven device yet (but, then again I recently acquired a MMA Cadet Ensign board with a woven star), but that does not mean they do not exist.
