I recently acquired this WW2 postcard. It is from Major General Frank E. Stoner (Signal Corps) to a woman on the School Board in Vancouver, Washington. It has a 624 APO postmark (Greece) with a date of June 8, 1945 (a rare combination). The image is of the Parthenon in Athens, Greece. I found the comments of the General to be most interesting.

In case you cannot read it he says:

"I am quartered just below the Acropolis. The Parthenon must have been beautiful. It has stood the innumerable sacrileges and ravages of mankind much better than whole German cities have withstood American and British bombs. The world need a lot of love and understanding."

This is the first WW2 postcard I have acquired signed by a WW2 General.
