bldrhouse Posted December 31, 2019 #1 Posted December 31, 2019 cannot figure out how attach my Kerr sling; it has three straps, forming a type of Y pattern. assume the single end goes on butt, and end with two straps goes to handguard (or vv) -- one has the clip-on connector -- but not sure what to do with the extra strap on that end with rectangular metal piece... pic, anyone? z
Costa Posted December 31, 2019 #2 Posted December 31, 2019 go on google or opening page and type in kerr slings. there are examples there showing how to apply to rifles and thompsons.
bldrhouse Posted January 2, 2020 Author #4 Posted January 2, 2020 Thank you; I had just found that one. no way I could have figured that out by myself. z
dalbert Posted January 3, 2020 #5 Posted January 3, 2020 Here are the original instructions for the Kerr Adjustable Sling: Happy New Year! David Albert dalbert@sturmgewehr.com
bldrhouse Posted January 3, 2020 Author #6 Posted January 3, 2020 David... won't work! I don't have a Doughboy outfit to wear while doing it -- but I do have an '03 Springfield... Thank you and Happy New Year (= more opportunities to buy stuff..) z
63 RECON Posted January 3, 2020 #7 Posted January 3, 2020 thanks for posting those instructions, very helpful as i have one on my '03 as well
bldrhouse Posted January 23, 2020 Author #8 Posted January 23, 2020 Thanks on the instructions. However, the metal tip that goes thru the forward sling swivel will not fit thru; it's really tight and seems to be a miniscule amount narrower.. guess I could lube it, but with what? my worry is that I am going to scratch the paint very badly.... ideas?

It should be a tight or almost difficult fit. You have to sort of hold the tension on the spring clip as you bring it around so that it feels like it won't fit but then it just barley does fit. Hard to put into words, but keep tinkering carefully and you'll probably get it to work.
bldrhouse Posted January 23, 2020 Author #10 Posted January 23, 2020 Thanks but the issue is putting the actual sling (fabric with metal tip) thru the swivel itself... z
