Here is an interesting document I found in a scrapbook I purchased at an antique mall. It is a Concealed Carry Permit for a member of the OSS. Note the heading: Headquarters Detachment 2677th Regiment OSS (Provisional). This captain served in Italy. Anybody know what CMP stands for after his service number? He was a Captain in the Military Police, is that what it means?

Nice document!

 

Both of these men appear on the OSS roster. Keep in mind that Army officers assigned to the OSS were recruited from a variety of branches. Their duties may have had nothing to do with the branch assignment though....
