Were there any US bases in the Marquesas Islands

Hi everyone, I was wanting to know if there was any type of US Navy bases in the Marquesas Islands. I know there was a big base on Bora Bora and places such as that, however I have never heard of anything about The Marquesas Islands. I would have at least thought that since they were not near any fronts that it may be some type of repair, refueling stop or a hospital something like that. If the Marquesas were not used I am guessing that it's because it was so remote it was of little use or value?
