royski Posted July 19, 2016 Share #1 Posted July 19, 2016 Found this knife in my fathers stuff and really have no idea what is is. Blade is pretty salty but I do not see any sign of markings anywhere. Only markings are an E and H on the leather grip which are also on the back of the sheath. Leather sheath has US over MS on it between two diamonds and then there is what appears to be a patriotic US shield. Any information is appreciated. doyler Posted July 19, 2016 Share #2 Posted July 19, 2016 Looks like a variant of the E.G. Waterman made knives.
camillus Posted July 19, 2016 Share #3 Posted July 19, 2016 Looks like a well worn E.G.Waterman but I could be wrong. They were noted for the ring and knob on the pomel and the hook under the riccaso was a bottle opener
sactroop Posted July 19, 2016 Share #4 Posted July 19, 2016 Agree, also the sheath was hand embossed. Nice.
dustin Posted July 19, 2016 Share #5 Posted July 19, 2016 I would propose this knife was used by a Merchant Marine of the United States Maritime Service (USMS)

dustin Posted July 23, 2016 Share #9 Posted July 23, 2016 Well your going to have varying opinions but I don't think condition in this case should be an issue, it's the embossed sheath that makes the difference. Any collector of merchant marine would love to have this in their collection or any WWII maritime collector. Without the embossing then yes wishing for a better condition is not out line, it's just an unknown relic. But now it is in relic state but with a background of work and at sea giving the knife context.
