Nice article.  I am almost certain the early A-13 mask did not have inhalation valves and covers-maybe a later addition or acquired from the A-13A?  The A-13 developed into the A-13A/MS-22001 MBU-3/P series with many many configurations used, especially by the USN/USMC.
