Blue star mother pin with gold star

From when these were made (assuming WW2 perhaps?) there may not have been a differentiation between Blue and Gold Star Mothers on this pin. If the same overall pin body was used, the gold star would indicate that this spouse lost their loved one in a war zone. This still exists today, but the pin has changed quite a bit. I would guess you have a Gold Star Mother pin on your hands and her husband/son/brother/whatever died during the war while in the line of duty.

Here is what a Gold Star pin looks like now:

Picked these up yesterday. The one pin that says blue star mother has a gold star on it.Kind of odd.

I wonder if the ones you got are for a Gold Star Mother organization? The one Major Z posted is the one issued by the government.

I have a book put out (during the war I think) from the Gold star mothers. It is from Lawrence County Pa.They must have been seperate organizations. She must have lost a loved one while still in the blue star mothers.
