Major Z Posted November 7, 2015 Share #2 Posted November 7, 2015 From when these were made (assuming WW2 perhaps?) there may not have been a differentiation between Blue and Gold Star Mothers on this pin. If the same overall pin body was used, the gold star would indicate that this spouse lost their loved one in a war zone. This still exists today, but the pin has changed quite a bit. I would guess you have a Gold Star Mother pin on your hands and her husband/son/brother/whatever died during the war while in the line of duty. FortJohn Posted November 8, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted November 8, 2015 I have a book put out (during the war I think) from the Gold star mothers.It is from Lawrence County Pa.They must have been seperate organizations.She must have lost a loved one while still in the blue star mothers.
