digi-shots Posted October 26, 2015 Share #1 Posted October 26, 2015 I've seen various Seabees BDU's before but I don't remember seeing too many with jump wings... is this fairly common? It also looks like there may have been another patch on the right collar. Is there any way to determine what the Seabee's speciality was? Thanks! TheMariner Posted October 26, 2015 Share #2 Posted October 26, 2015 This dosent really seem original too me, the parts do but i can't imagine a Seabee with jump wings or at least i have never seen one. digi-shots Posted October 26, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted October 26, 2015 After doing some more searching, it appears this BDU is for a Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist. I got this from a local thrift store and thought it was a bit unusual.
jeb137 Posted October 27, 2015 Share #5 Posted October 27, 2015 When I was in the Seabees, I do remember in one of the two battalions I was in having to send two people to jump school. They did wear both the SCW and the Jump Wings. They were entitled to. It only happened because to meet operational commitments the battalion had to have two qualified jumpers. That uniform is that of a CEC Officer. No way to tell from it what Company / Department he was in from the patches. Never discount Seabee training.... One time the battalion I was in went by bus from Gufport MS to catch a train from just outside of New Orleans to Chicago, to catch a plane to New York, to be bussed to Fort Drum NY, in February to go to cold weather training. Ice forts, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, cold weather survival, etc. Then we deployed to Okinawa and went to the Northern Training area for jungle training.... Oddest training I had in the same year. Jon B. Newaygo MI
