ARTILLERY SHELLS MADE INTO ASHTRAYS WW II

Over the years I have picked up several WW II ashtrays made from ordnance as I smoke. The first one pictured here is a 3 inch shell with a .50 calibler round in it. It appears it was was made by a German POW as we notice "NORD AFRICA" on it. Second pictured is a 40 MM round done by a sailor and lastly another ashtray with a .50 caliber round face down.

post-32632-0-46703000-1376451579.jpgpost-32632-0-70286600-1376451183.jpgIt's not really an artillery shell but the cup part could be a nose cone. From the far east. U.S.,Phillipine, Chinese or Burmese and British Empire coins on the side and top. The 30-06 and .45 ammo is all pre-WWII stamped.

I've only got one trench art ash tray, but I have a slew of trench art lighters (not sure how may, if any are US-made, so I'll skip those for now) but I have few other pieces of US trench art.

Here's my one and only ash tray:

It's made from a 1943-dated 76mm shell; the "legs" are .30 Carbine cartridges. Here's a picture of the bottom, plus one from the side:

Here's a vase made from a similar caliber shell, that's embossed with a floral motif.
