Nuremberg 1945?

This is a picture my Uncle took in 1945 in Germany. I believe I may be Nuremberg but I may be way off base here. it appears to be the City Gates somewhere. It also appears to be the site of one heck of a battle by the appearance of the battle damage in the mason walls. Could anyone out there identify this site?

It would be much appreciated.

I believe this is in München.

Isar Gate (Isartor) was the eastern boundary of the city fortifications at the time of Ludwig the Bavarian in the fourteenth century. It is the only gate of the city whose tower has survived. The wall-painting. "The Triumphal Entry of Emperor Ludwig of Bavaria after the Battle of Ampfingen in 1322", is a work of the nineteenth century.

I think Erwin nailed it. The pic below is from a current day Munich tourism site.

You fellows are great! Thank you you very much for your efforts.

I truly appreciate it! My Uncle is 88. I can't wait to show him this.
