Hi! New guy here -1st post.

Anyone have a clue as to who / what group this leather patch might belong to?

It's about 4 1/2 - 5 1/2 inches and looks to be a jacket patch.

Thanks!

Tim

The A D stands for Air Depot. The H would be for the Air Field.

Thank you 2Dogs.

This patch was in a grouping of pre WW2 Hawaiian items (patches, DUI, etc...) Could possibly be Hawaiian Air Depot or Hickam maybe?

Is the design a decal...or painted directly onto the patch?

Sabrejet

I'm pretty sure it's a decal - the lines and edges appear too straight and detailed to have been painted.

Thanks. Your Hawaiian / Hickam theory sounds plausible?

Hi Tim,

Welcome to the forum.Nice patch! There is a member here named Johnny Signor,

he's pretty knowledgeable about the WW2 era leather patches. He usually comes

on at night.I'm sure that he will be able to help you.In the meantime, would it be

possible to post a back view of this patch as well?

Thanks patchcollector! here's a view of the back. It doesn't appear that it was ever attached to a jacket.

Regards,

Tim

Hello, I would venture to say ,although I've never seen one to confirm it, that your patch as mentioned is most likely for either Hawaii or Hickam Air Depot, especially it coming in with other things from that area , I will check around and see if I can find a photo/s showing the design and get back with you if I find anything possitive.

Nice patch, thanks for sharing !

The correct answer, from among those previously suggested, is Hawaii Air Depot.

Was this the official emblem of the same HAFB Command which was formed 25 Dec 1941?

1941 (25 Dec)

The Hawaiian Air Force Base Command was established at Hickam Field with four subordinate echelons—Hickam Field Base Command, Wheeler Field Base Command, Bellows Field Base Command, and the Hawaiian Air Depot (located at Hickam Field).

1946 (15 May)

Hickam Field Army Air Base was transferred to the Pacific Air Service Command and merged with the Hawaiian Air Depot.
