These are letters written by Captain Thomas W Morrison and his wife Pauline.
It certainly must have been a long war for both of them.
I was lucky to meet Pauline before she passed away. I never knew Tom, but feel that he was an extraordinary man.
After his war service he became a Captain with the Pittsburgh Fire department.

Moths-

Do you own the trunk and letters? It looks like a ton of correspondence and from an outstanding combat regiment to boot!

There are over 400 letters. I've only just begun to scan and read them.
I have more from Captain Morrison, and will post as time permits.

A Broadcast from the European War Theatre
By Ted Malone
Interesting read
A quote from script
"I took a lot of names.Three kids sitting on the turret of a big tank, Corporal Harold Meely of Youngstown Ohio; Sergeant Dale Hoffine, of Murdock, Kansas; Sergeant Joe Breen of New York -- They were all with Captain Morrison of Pittsburgh, when the Americans had driven the Nazis off a big hill."

This is about half of the front page. There are four pages. I would have posted more, but staying under the 150K and legible is a real challenge. I have 1 more of these, July 24th 1935

Captain Morrison was mentioned twice in a book titled "Five Stars To Victory" by Eaton Roberts ; Published 1949
http://www.3ad.com/h.../five.stars.htm
This map was produced in 1945 and said to be the inspiration for the book, and Appointment under section 37 National Defense Act

What a wonderful grouping. There are moments when I feel almost like an intruder when I read some of the letters from those who's life I have had the honor to look in to. But, it's  good that folks like us are able to rescue these items from the literal trash can or the trash heap of human memory.
