zbcdn Posted February 25, 2011 Share #1 Posted February 25, 2011 I am interested in this helmet. As I know, they didnt date civil defence helmets. Is there any way of knowing if this is a ww2 era helmet?
R Michael Posted February 25, 2011 Share #2 Posted February 25, 2011 Except for the front leather pad yours looks exactly like mine that came NOS out of a wartime dated box. Mike
B229 Posted February 25, 2011 Share #3 Posted February 25, 2011 I am interested in this helmet. As I know, they didnt date civil defence helmets. Is there any way of knowing if this is a ww2 era helmet? The Office of Civilian Defense (OCD) only existed from 1941-1945. None of the post-WWII civil defense agencies had those same initials until Robert McNamara established the Office of Civil Defense in 1961. Plus the fact that this is the same as all the other WWII era OCD helmets I've ever seen, I'd say it's WWII.
