June 25Jun 25 #1 Hello everyone the Heartland show was a really good time. I found this US enlisted air crew wing and this is the first one I have like this. There is no maker mark on it and it is two piece the eagle center was added. Does any one know who made this wing and what country it came from. Any help would be great.
June 27Jun 27 #2 Well I like it but who knows it could be an old fake, Not sure why they would fake a common wing like that, thats a high or thick center, Ive had a few like that where the insignia was separately applied but not that high. Nice looking wing either way.
June 27Jun 27 #3 The wings have LOTS of detail, reminds me of Luxenberg or Angus and Coote (not saying that's who made it, just very detailed wings like theirs).
June 27Jun 27 #4 The pattern is an English JR Gaunt but its unfortunately a reproduction in my opinion. The pin is an American style on an English pattern and Gaunt made solid brass wings with a silver coating. Gaunt also had some solid silver wings but they are extremely rare and have English hallmarks.
June 28Jun 28 #5 I'm not sure this is a reproduction. To me this looks like a CBI made wing. There are wings from there that directly rip from known patterns. This one is very similar to gaunt and yet not. This goes beyond the pin. This piece looks to have solid age. But in 25 years I have never seen this one
June 29Jun 29 Author #7 The reason I brought this wing it is two piece . The eagle has been added check the one photo and it was done really nicely.
June 29Jun 29 #8 I like it, whilst I can’t pin down a rough area for sure I’d be willing to bet it is a CBI piece. I’m leaning towards India, glad you picked it up.
