Another group shot; this time candid:

I'm in the center, facing the camera, in my "gear lite" mode. My rifle, coat and full rig are on a display table with my small collection. I'm wearing some extra equipment I have, mostly so 1) I'd have a canteen on hand at all times and 2) I wouldn't look like a survivalist that had wandered in off the street. Webgear consists of two canteens, buttpack, belt, first aid pouch, and Large suspenders. The first aid pouch on my shoulder is nylon, but it's 71 dated. The rest of the gear is M56 canvas. The canteens are VN-dated, the pants are 69 dated, the boots are Wellco repro, and the hat is recent make Type II but with cloth net band so it looks vintage. I cut the leather keeper off and tied the neck string around the back to the net band. Sunglasses are RayBan 80's vintage. Watch is Timex camper based on the VN design (nylon band, plastic case, mil face, and just as cheap and crappy as the originals were). What you don't see is the buttpack with a lightweight poncho, the weight of which forced me to hold my hands on the belt keeper so it wouldn't ride up my belly. If I'd been smart I would've brough the canteens forward, but I was too lazy. I also keep forgetting to tie my spare dogtags to the bootlaces; oh well.

myself at the end of the year Vietnam tactical I organized this past weekend. I was the NVA political officer... i do not have my full kit on, just picked up my rifle to pose for this pic. the rest of the gallery can be found here... as i said in another thread, our events are not yet 100%...we are being inclusive instead of exclusive to grow our ranks and hopefully get to that 100% mark sometime next year.

Thank You. I am a member of 2 reenactors clubs. One that reenacts the 100th ID but does a variety of different Army and Marine Units in the Spring, Summer and Fall. The other one I am part of concentrates one I/505 82nd Abn, but does a variety of different Army Abn and Infantry units during WW2. I also though reenact independently at some events.

 

That is cool about the gasmask, I guess I'm modeling two things now you dug up.

The Jacket belonged to 1st Lt. Robert C. Sage, pilot of "Pleasure Bent" 838th Bombardment Squadron, 487th Bombardment Group. He Flew B-17s and was originally with the 306th Bombardment Group, one of the first Air Force units to go overseas. The Pocket Patch is that of the 367th Bombardment Squadron, 306th Bombardment Group. The artwork is that of his plane "Pleasure Bent" which was Part of 838th Bombardment Squadron.

 

Also any advice on how best to preserve the pocket patch and artwork would be greatly appreciated.

Just about everyone (minus guys who are dirty and those who are doing parades and need to be clean) are too clean. Yall look like you are posing for pictures for field manuals... No gear is ripped, or uniforms, .... gear is perfect....

 

Roll around in the mud a couple of times and don't wash your combat uniform between events!!!! And dont wash your cmbat field gear!!!

Here's mine. I am the Orderly Sgt. on the left.

 

We are recognized as the best USMC CW unit out there. No TBGs (tubby bearded guys) in frocks that look like bathrobes here!

 

We are Ships Company, USS Constellation; we volunteer on USS Constellation, the last surviving warship of the CiviL War, now located in Baltimore's Inner Harbor.
