Mk.V bicycles were only made between 1939 and 1942 from what I've gathered. And it think it's known roughly how many were made. The number on mine starts with T2***** , so presumably older than yours. They were originally painted khaki/brown.
At least yours still has the correct Mk.IV carrier.
I've spent the weekend disassembling mine further. Going as far as removing the bottom bracket, only to discover most of the ball bearings had escaped their races. Luckily all 22 of them were all still there, stuck in the old grease.
Sanding and repainting of the parts is ongoing. Nearly got the excessively thick coat of ABL green paint off the frame and fork.
I also do not have the correct mudguards, nor the correct mudguard V-stays. Looking into having a 2 sets of stays made up in the proper length.
So....some progress at least. 😄
