OK, So I did a little digging and research as I now see BOTH Gray boarder "Cadre" (which in color SSI is yellow) and Black boarder "Cadet" (which in color SSI is still... black) USMA patches. As an ROTC grad I was made a 2LT "Reserve" Officer, while Hudson High grads were ALL commissioned Regular Army officers. Top cadets were awarded regular Army commissions, which was a very small percentage. OK, bias aside. I now see... Cadets wore black boarder patches while cadre wore gray boarder patches. Interesting variations. To "Patches" I respect your posts so, you learn something new every day. Thank you for the clarification. I'll have to be on the look out for either of these "variations" to add to my board.
