January 12, 201115 yr #1 Wayne Kempton was a Cotton farmer from Arizona.In June of 1942 he joined the 3RD Marine division and served as a field telephone wireman. He fought at Bougainville and Gaum where he received a sharpnel wound in the shoulder.He relisted in 1948 and served in Korea. Thanks to Tom Lane for showing the ebay listing.
January 12, 201115 yr #3 Nice group - the Guam campaign and 3rd never got the recognition they should have. The Empress Augusta Bay Beachhead battle was one of the hardest fought in the Pacific.
