I just picked these up today. Any ideas? They are embroidered on wool:

I picked these up three years ago and still haven't figured out what they are. They came from the estate of a WAC who was in Paris for a time. Thanks

These are non-combatant patches for the ETO, 1943-44 style. Worn by civilian female drivers and clerical staff supporting the US Army, most likely in Great Britain during that time.

 

Discussed in the ASMIC Trading Post, April-June 2009 issue.

 

Fairly hard to find insignia, but based on your photo I really couldn't even begin to guess if they are real or not. I'm fairly certain these patches have been faked since the article was published (or possibly earlier).

I misplaced these patches and just now found them to post better pictures. As I stated earlier, from the estate of a WAC stationed in Paris after it was liberated.
