December 20, 201015 yr #1 I've had these for years and have never seen anything else like them. I got them as a kid of about 10 or 12, almost 30 years ago, along with a Vietnam era gas mask bag and a WWII Garand Cartridge Belt from a friend who picked up some stuff for all of us at an Army Surplus Store to use in our neighborhood war games. If I remember correctly the two scopes came in a zippered case with a standard belt hanger and loops for other tools. Unfortunately, the case has long since disappeared. Anyone know what these are for? Thanks.
December 20, 201015 yr #2 They appear to be inspection scopes for bore scoping engines and such. We have something similar in aviation that we used to look into our jet engines without having to disassemble them. That may be what these are, for looking into mechanical equipment.
December 21, 201015 yr Author #3 Thanks for the lead. I've been at a loss for years as to what they could possibly be. They have no markings of any kind and I never saw pictures of anything like them.

December 22, 201015 yr #6 Yes, but there are some of the old style around yet. What we actually have now is a fiber optic camera that displays onto a screen that can be transmitted across the internet to someone elsewhere. But that would have ruined the image for this guy.
December 22, 201015 yr Author #7 Sgt. Boghots, excellent question. They actually only focus out to maybe an inch and a half or two inches. Definitely microscopes, not telescopes. At one time I thought maybe they were for looking down the barrel of a rifle for some reason, but they couldn't see far enough to be of any use for that that I could tell.
