December 19, 201015 yr #26 Oh now that is what I call a score Bones! Very nice grouping to a brave warrior for sure! Congrats on the pick up......
December 19, 201015 yr Author #27 Thanks for the info Gil. I briefly did a search of the archives and it appears they do not have any information on this document. Also got to see a picture of the SOB that admitted to these crimes. Seems it is a death bed confession as the last paragraph says" With this last statement a once proud man of his atrocities died, trying to make the listeners believe him a hero instead of a torturer". It is 6 pages 8 1/2" x 14".
December 19, 201015 yr #28 Oh now that is what I call a score Bones! Very nice grouping to a brave warrior for sure! Congrats on the pick up...... Let me amend my previous post after going back and looking carefully at this and just say that this is a valuable piece of history.......albiet one of the darker chapters. I should have read, looked, a little closer at what you have come across. This is a nice US grouping, but it shows the horror of the war and the TR's sadistic treatment of those who were not deemed (by them) worthy of living. A great grouping still of a brave US soldier who helped those that couldn't help themselves! I eat crow on my comments above and agree that this is a very nice/sad grouping indeed. Not at all what I thought when I first scimmed through..........
December 19, 201015 yr #30 Tony, You've got an amazing piece of history there. The document of that Standartenfuhrer (SS Colonel) is firsthand evidence of the monstrosity that was the Third Reich. Quite the sobering proof of what they actually did. Glad to see that this grouping went to someone that'll honor this Veteran's history and the part he played in ending Nazi tyrrany. Jon
