August 27, 200718 yr #1 Hi Everyone, Shown here is a 45 star flag converted to 48 stars, it was manufactured with 45 stars but three stars have been hand sewn onto the flag to up-date it to 48 stars. The additional stars have been added at the end of rows 2, 4, 6, it can be seen in the close ups that the manufactured stars have been professionaly sewn on and then you can see the hand sewing on the additional ones. I would be interested in knowing the dates for a 45 star flag and any other information you could possibly pass on. Cheers ( Lewis )
August 27, 200718 yr #2 The 45-star flag was used 1896-1908. In 1908, we went to 46 stars and then to 48 in 1912.
August 27, 200718 yr Author #3 Hi JBFloyd, thanks for the reply and dates on the 45 star flag, I had also posted another picture of a 44 star flag but one of the forum moderators must have removed it thinking it was the same post entered twice. So here it is again, this is a flag with 44 stars, again please can anyone tell me the dates for this flag or any other information on the period with 44 stars. Cheers ( Lewis )
August 28, 200718 yr Author #5 Jeff, Thanks for adding the date line to the flag question, and also for adding the link to the website, which I found interesting. When I move house shortly I hope to find the space to display the 44 star flag on the wall and it will be good to have a little date and history to the flag. Most people have seen or own a current flag, it will be nice to display something a little older. Cheers ( Lewis )
