October 24, 200916 yr #1 This is not so much sought after as collector piece but is an hard to find one. It was made only by Craighead and only in 1943 and marked with his odd stadium alike oval. This one is nearly unissued and shows a quite litte verdigris after 66 years. The only issue is a drop of something like "caramel" in the upper area. You can easily detect its WWII era by the lack of the rivet reinforcing the bottom.
October 24, 200916 yr #3 Nice one. I have a private purchase one which I thought thats all there was. Another lesson learned. Thanks. Robert
October 27, 200916 yr #5 I have a fair condition normal .45 hip holster made by Craighead in near mint with just a few tears in the leather. Any way to ID the year of this? got it off eBay for $20.00
October 27, 200916 yr Author #7 Artu, I have your holsters twin brother, minus the caramel. Bob Fine, but I can lick mine!!!!
October 27, 200916 yr Author #8 It's not easy put a date on it. I see Craighead marked its 1943 Victory production with the date so it could be 1944 or 1945. For sure it's a WWII era holster.
